<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information acquiring method with which a host device can acquire information stored in a printer and the host device can accurately and efficiently acquire the information even when the amount of information to be acquired is large and variable. <P>SOLUTION: In this printing system provided with the host device and the printer, the information acquiring method when the host device acquires the information stored in the printer comprises: a first process in which the host device inquires of the printer about the number of divisions indicating the number of packets into which the information to be acquired is divided for transmission by using packet size in communication with the printer; a second process in which the printer transmits the number of divisions in response to the inquiry; a third process in which the host device makes a request so as to transmit data of information to be acquired after the second process; and a fourth process in which the printer transmits the data to the host device in response to the request of the third process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
