PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadband ASE light source using a Tm<SP>3+</SP>/Tb<SP>3+</SP>additive fiber. SOLUTION: Optical transmission media 1, 6 have the optical fiber with at least Tm<SP>3+</SP>and Tb<SP>3+</SP>added to a core part and a clad part. The optical fiber comprises: optical transmission media 1, 6 including a first optical fiber having the core part and the clad part with the Tm<SP>3+</SP>and Tb<SP>3+</SP>added, and a second optical fiber having the core part and the clad part with at least Tm<SP>3+</SP>added; excitation light sources 2-1, 2-2 for generating an excitation light for exciting the optical transmission media; and means 3-1, 3-2 for guiding the excitation light from the excitation light sources 2-1, 2-2 to the optical transmission media.
