PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple, inexpensive and accurate developer residual amount confirming mechanism by using a light transmitting mechanism. SOLUTION: By arranging a light guide having shape branched like a branch inside a developing container and on the outside appearance part of the developing container, transmitting light from the outside to one direction part of the light guide and transferring the light between the branched parts of the light guide, a developer area lying between the branched parts of the light guide is irradiated with the light and the various densities of the transmitted light are visually confirmed as the residual amount of the developer from the outside of the developing container.
