PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate a radius position of an optical disk of a laser beam spot irradiated to an optical disk. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a spindle drive part 13 rotation-driving an optical disk 10 selectively with constant linear velocity and constant angular velocity, an optical pickup part 11 irradiating a recording plane of the optical disk 10 rotation-driven with a laser beam and reading a signal recorded in a track from the laser beam reflected from the recording plane, a thread drive part 12 moving straightly the optical disk 10 or the optical pickup part 11 in the radius direction being a radial direction from a center of the optical disk 10, and a control part 2 detecting a wobble signal corresponding to meandering of the track of the optical disk 10 from a signal read by the optical pickup part 11, calculating a radius position of the laser beam on the optical disk 10 from a frequency of the wobble signal detected by rotation-driving the optical disk 10 with constant angular velocity, performing servo control corresponding to the calculated radius position, and rotation-driving the optical disk 10 with constant linear velocity.
