COVER DEVICE FOR AN OPEN CARRIER, CONTAINER OR A TRAILER

The inventive cover device (1) is used for high capacity elongated containers (2) whose volume ranges from 6 to 56 m³ and which is embodied in the form of an open carrier, container or trailer comprising a rectangular bottom (8), two large longitudinal side walls (10) and two small end walls (9), wherein the top boards of said longitudinal (10) and end (9) walls form a peripheral edge (11) defining a top opening (7). Said cover device comprises a rigid structure forming a rectangular cover (5) delimited by two small end edges (13) and two large longitudinal edges (14) whose sizes are selected in such a way that it makes it possible to cover at least partially said top opening (7) of the container (2). Said cover (5) is fixed to at least one cantilever jib crane (4) which is independent of said cover (5) or integrated therein and whose at least one end is fixed to at least one support member (3) arranged in front of one small end edge (13) of the cover (5). The cantilever jib crane(s) (4) and /or support members (3) are associated with mechanical jack means and/or with motor(s) for moving said cover (5) from an activated position, in which said cover (5) is placed at least partially on the peripheral edge of the container (2), and a retracted position in which said cover is removed from the opening (7), in particular for enabling the container loading and unloading operations to be carried out or for placing or removing a removable container.
