The main box (10) is partitioned, with the musical movement in one part and the moveable drawer in the other. A resilient, U-shaped spring (41) with hooked ends, located in the movement compartment, retains or releases the drawer. A further compression spring (43), acts against the drawer and surrounds a guide rod. The guide rod extends through the partition from the movement compartment, into the box compartment. The spring (43) presses the box outwardly. The musical movement comprises a mounting plate carrying the rotating cylinder (22), musical steel comb (23) and geared drive (24). The main box is made of wall panels and includes mounting holes with threaded bores to fasten the U-spring. The end of the guide rod in the musical movement compartment, is correspondingly-threaded. The other end of this rod, which passes into the drawer, is widened, forming a stop. The U-spring is made from plastic by injection molding. Its side arms have projections (411) and terminate in hooks (412). The base of the U-section has a central, tapped bore. In a variant, the U-spring is made from metal spring strip. Suitable holes are provided in the partition and box, to accommodate the guide rod and hooked ends of the U-spring. A push rod is fitted to the inner end wall of the drawer. This operates the drive for the musical movement.
