PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a widening machine in a simple structure, to improve construction work efficiency for widening, to shorten a construction period, to reduce construction cost, to enable widening of a large cross section, to enhance the degree of freedom and stability of a skeleton structure, and to form a segment in a lightweight structure. SOLUTION: This tunnel widening construction method pulls back a front body in a main body part of a shield machine while filling a natural ground stabilizing filler in its excavation place by overhanging the front body from the inside of the main body part 2 of the shield machine 1 by excavating the natural ground by its cutters, by constituting the widening machine 3 of the excavating front body 3A having the cutters 4 and 5 and a pre-lining rear body 3B; and afterwards, constructs a pre-lining 7 by a segment or concrete there from the rear body by excavating in a cross-sectional shape of the widening machine by advancing boring by the widening machine combined with the front body and the rear body simultaneously with boring advancing of the shield machine by pushing out to a stabilizing area by the filler from the inside of the main body part of the shield machine by combining the front body and the rear body.
