PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control device and method for an air conditioner equipped with a plurality of compressors capable of preventing an increase of power consumption and a decrease of operation efficiency of a system due to an excessively filled refrigerant by adjusting the amount of refrigerant discharged from a condensing unit according to the operating capacity of the system based on load. SOLUTION: The operation control device for the air conditioner equipped with the plurality of compressors comprises a refrigerant accumulating unit for accumulating the predetermined amount of refrigerant, and a control unit for selecting an operation mode according to a current operation load and controlling the refrigerant accumulation of the refrigerant accumulating unit based on the selected operation mode.
