PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear fuel bundle spacer that reduces pressure drop and enables high-limit output. SOLUTION: The spacer 18 for a fuel assembly includes partition plates 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62 and 64 that are orthogonally engaged with each other and form cells 22 of fuel rods and water rods. The partition plates form fuel rod cells having an opening 70 having an integrated spring 28, the spring projects into the fuel cell and supports the fuel rods in the cell so as to be in contact with an opposite side stop section 32 supported by the facing partition plate. The partition plates are formed by arranging quadrants facing diagonally in a 10×10 array as mutual mirror images. The partition plates are surrounded with a peripheral band 24, the integrated stop sections 34 project into the peripheral cells to surround the spacer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
