PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a dangerous event caused by no cooking container even immediately after ignition operation while improving user convenience by ensuring the ignition of a gas burner in a gas cooker formed to manually open a safety valve of a gas circuit, interlocked with the ignition operation of a burner operating part. SOLUTION: The gas cooker 1 comprises a pot detector 13 detecting the presence of a pot A at a cooker part 51 which the gas burner 2 faces, a flame detector 27 detecting the flame of the gas burner 2, and a control device 61. When ignition operation of a cooker button 21 is performed to monitor the presence of the pot (S1, S2) and the gas burner 2 is ignited to detect the flame by the flame detector 27 (S3, S4), in the case of detecting no pot (S6), the control device 61 restricts a flow regulating valve 26 to control the heating power of the gas burner 2 into low heat (S7). The dangerous event caused by direct fire in a no-pot time can thereby be avoided, and the ignition of the gas burner 2 is ensured even without the pot to improve user convenience.
