PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially inexpensively and easily manufacturing a 4-formylthiazole compound. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the 4-formylthiazole compound represented by general formula (2) (wherein R is a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted 1-4C alkyl group) comprises causing a halogen acid salt of a 4-halomethylthiazole represented by general formula (1) (wherein R is the same as above; and X is a halogen atom) to react with an oxidizing agent and subsequently heating it in the presence of water.
