Method and apparatus for sterilising porous particles

A sterilized container (2) is filled loosely with porous but crunchy wheat and rice crisps. Sterile nitrogen gas is added through a duct (9) located between a fan (7) and a dust removal device (5) while a valve (10) between the two units (5,9) is closed and an outlet for used air (11) opened. The gas inlet (9) and the outlet for used air (11) are closed when nitrogen is released. The gas is heated (3), enriched with moisture (13) and the hot gas is guided through the perforated bottom (17) into the container (2), then through the dust removal device (5), and used again. An independent claim is given for a device for the sterilization of porous particles.
