A method for supplying a power-saving function in a sleep mode-state mobile communication terminal and the mobile communication terminal are provided to measure currents supplied from a battery in every necessary mode conversion time, and to execute a resetting process if currents more than a reference value flow owing to wrong operation, thereby preventing unnecessary battery consumption caused by excessive currents. A current measurement unit(110) measures currents supplied from a battery(112). If the currents measured at set periodic times by the current measurement unit(110) are overcurrents more than a reference value, while a mobile communication terminal is in sleep mode, a controller(114) controls a resetting function of resetting the terminal. If an externally inputted signal does not exist within necessary mode conversion time, the controller(114) executes a sleep mode conversion program, and controls so that the terminal is converted into the sleep mode according to predetermined algorithm of the sleep mode conversion program. |
