A pump testing device saving liquefied natural gas and a method thereof are provided to mount an opening/closing valve to a branch line pipe between discharge line pipes of spray and cargo pumps for controlling transmission of liquefied natural gas from the spray pump to the cargo pumps. A pump testing device saving liquefied natural gas includes a cargo tank(210) storing predetermined amount of liquefied natural gas, and a spray pump(220) and cargo pumps(230) respectively mounted in the cargo tank with a predetermined height difference from each other and discharging the liquefied natural gas via each discharge line pipe(222,234). A branch line pipe(226) is connected to the discharge line pipe of the spray pump to one of the discharge line pipes of the cargo pump, and transmits the liquefied natural gas discharged from the discharge line pipe of the spray pump to the one discharge line pipe of the cargo pump. An opening/closing valve(224) is mounted to the branch line pipe for carrying out or blocking the transmission of the liquefied natural gas.
