Apparatus for securing a line 112, comprising at least one sleeve 110 of variable length capable when lengthened of gripping the line 112 and when shortened of sliding along the line 112, the device further comprising release means 214, 216, 218, 220 arranged to shorten the sleeve on application of a compressive force to the release means 218, 220 in a direction substantially transverse to the longitudinal direction of the sleeve 110. The sleeve 110 may be a braided tubular sleeve, and may have a radio opaque marker woven into the braid. There may be a plurality of sleeves 110 to secure a plurality of lines. The force required to shorten the sleeve may be greater than the force required to buckle the line 110. A sleeve 110 may be used to seal appertures in a line such as repairing splits. |
