PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a grain oriented silicon steel sheet having a uniform forsterite film free from defects over the whole width and whole length of a coil and excellent in adhesion and also excellent in magnetic properties. SOLUTION: At the time of producing a grain oriented silicon steel sheet, as for the distribution of Cr concentration in the thickness direction of the steel sheet directly before final cold rolling, the condition of the following inequality (1) is satisfied: 0.2×tI/tR<=t<=3×tI/tR...(1), where tI denotes the sheet thickness (mm) before the final cold rolling, tR denotes the sheet thickness (mm) after the final cold rolling, and (t) denotes the thickness (μm) from the surface in a region in which the ratio of the concentration of Cr (exclusive of Cr as oxide) to the concentration of Cr in the central part of the sheet thickness is <=0.9. |
