A heat energy recovery apparatus includes a compressor (10); a heat exchanger (20; 120); an expander (30); a working gas exhaust pipe (15) which leads the working gas compressed by the compressor (10) to the heat exchanger (20; 120); a working gas exhaust path (15a) generally parallel to a direction of the thermal expansion of the heat exchanger (20; 120); an extending unit (18) extensible in the same direction as that of the thermal expansion when the heat exchanger (20; 120) expands thermally and tensile stress occurs in the working gas exhaust path (15a) with the thermal expansion of the heat exchanger (20; 120); and a shrinking unit (18) shrinkable in the same direction as that of the thermal expansion when the heat exchanger (20; 120) expands thermally and compressive stress occurs in the working gas exhaust path (15a) with the thermal expansion of the heat exchanger (20; 120).
