A method for controlling key press emulation with an asynchronous HDLC(High-level Data Link Control) protocol between a communication module and an external device is provided to process key input by connecting a CDMA(Code Division Modulation Access) communication module having no keypad and processing a call, and the external device having the keypad. The external device having the keypad inputs a key. In the case of the long key continuously pushed by a user for a few seconds and took off, a request message is transferred to the communication module by inputting a setting value of the key to a hold field and inputting a key value to a key field of the request message transferred in an asynchronous HDLC frame format(S70). The communication module processes an operation of the key by receiving the request message and transfers a response message in the asynchronous HDLC frame format(S74). A command for releasing a state of the pushed key is transferred to the communication module by inputting the setting value to the hold field and inputting a key release value to the key field.
