A near infrared ray heater having a ruby radiation lamp is provided to obtain good surface strength and a smooth surface as well as reduce dry time of a painted layer. A near infrared ray heater having a ruby radiation lamp includes a heater main body(2), a radiation lamp, and a reflective plate. The heater main body has a front opening. The radiation lamp is fixed into the heater main body in a longitudinal direction thereof in a state that the heating coil is mounted therein. The reflective plate is fixed to the heater main body to reflect heat generated from the radiation lamp toward the entire opened heater main body. The radiation lamp is a ruby radiation lamp formed of a ruby material and has a tube shape. The ruby radiation lamp has a gas charge hole for charging a halogen gas at its one periphery surface. The gas charge hole is sealed after charging the halogen gas.
