A skate sharpening device includes a handle and a sharpening bit fixedly supported on the handle. The bit has an outwardly curved edge which is oriented relative to the handle such that manually passing the handle over t he ice skate blade causes the outwardly curved edge of the sharpening bit to engage and thereby sharpen the skate blade.
