RECORDING MEDIUM, DATA RECORDING METHOD AND APPARATUS, DATA REPRODUCING METHOD AND APPARATUS, AND COPYING CONTROL METHOD

Data is recorded in a first part (PA1) in the same signal format as that of a conventional CD with the lower limit (1.5 mum) of the allowable value of the track pitch at the lower limit (1.2 m/sec) of the linear velocity. As a result, data of a maximum reproduction time (74.7min) is recorded in the first part (PA1). Any conventional CD player can reproduce the audio data recorded in the first part (PA1) without any problem. Compressed and encrypted audio data can be recorded in the second part (PA2) at a single or double density. The single density means the same recording density of the conventional CD, and the double density means double the recording density of the conventional CD. The user is charged for the audio data recorded in the second part when the audio data is reproduced from the viewpoint of the copyright protection.
