A simulated fuel bed for a fireplace with simulated fire comprises a partially translucent and partially opaque cover with the appearance of at least partially charred pieces of wood and/or coal, and at least one light source which is disposed under this cover and which directs light at the cover, this light having properties such as position, colour and intensity such that the cover creates the illusion of comprising glowing pieces of wood and/or coal. The cover preferably consists of polyurethane foam. |
