A DSP(Digital Signal Processor) power controlling method of a mobile communication terminal and the mobile communication terminal therefor are provided to fully cut off power supplied to a DSP if a predetermined time elapses after the DSP enters an idle mode, thereby reducing a waste of energy as increasing the standby time of the terminal. A DSP(134) conducts a DSP process. A DSP power unit(132) provides power to the DSP(134) according to a control signal. A DSP mode decider(174) decides on a power supply mode, depending on whether to operate the DSP(134). A DSP power controller(176) controls power supply of the DSP power unit(132), so that the power is supplied or cut off to the DSP(134) according to the decided power supply mode. |
