The system has direct and delay channels (65- 68, 77 - 80) receiving control pulses corresponding to controls, respectively. A demultiplexer (38) comprises an input (37) and two outputs (39, 40), where the input constitutes an input of the system. Couplers (42, 44) comprise inlets (41, 43) and n outputs (57 - 60, 69 - 72), respectively. The input of each coupler is connected to one of the outputs of the demultiplexer. Each output of the coupler (42) is connected to one of the channels (65 - 68). The outputs (69 - 72) of the coupler (44) are connected to one of the channels (77 - 80). An independent claim is also included for an optical network comprising a device for localizing and determining defect.
