PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical display apparatus having an input video signal switching/outputting circuit capable of selecting an external input terminal to which a video signal is inputted and capable of always outputting the video signal. SOLUTION: When an S signal detection circuit 4 detects an S video signal for instance, an external input terminal judgment means 121 judges that the S video signal is inputted to an S input terminal 2. When setting in a set-up menu 10 is a composite input terminal, a both-terminal comparison means 123 judges both input terminals are different, a menu setting terminal changing means 125 changes the set contents of the set-up menu 10 to the S input terminal and a terminal switching means 125 controls a selection circuit 6 to switch the external input terminal from the composite input terminal 3 side to the S input terminal 2 side in responce to the change and switches a common contact 61 of the selection circuit 6 to the contact point 62 side, so that the S video signal can be outputted from the selection circuit 6.
