PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film which is suitably used for wrapping materials, labels, tracing uses, mold release films, matted films, light-scattering films, and the like, and whose at least one surface is roughened with protrusions formed from organic particles. SOLUTION: This biaxially oriented polyester film containing organic particles having functional groups on the surfaces in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt.% is characterized in that the average particle diameter of the organic particles is 1.0 to 20μm in the film thickness direction.
