PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable working machine capable of surely improving startability by suitably preventing fogging in an engine even if the engine is equipped with both of an automatic choking system and a manual choking system. SOLUTION: In a bush cutter as a portable working machine provided with the automatic choking machine and the manual choking machine, a choke lever for manual choking is inhibited in its movement by a projection 8D provided on an attachable and detachable cover 8A which does not directly relates to drive of the engine 10 and can be operated only under a condition where the cover 8A is removed. Consequently, what is necessary is just making the automatic choking system operate under a condition where the cover 8A is attached. Simultaneous operation of the automatic choking system and the manual choking system can be prevented and fogging of the engine is prevented to surely improve startability.
