PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoinitiator for a dental material, capable of inducing polymerization in a visible region, enough soluble in an aqueous solution system, and stable in the presence of water and an acid. SOLUTION: The polymerizable dental material contains at least one kind of radical-polymerizable monomer. The dental material contains at least one kind of bisacylphosphine oxide of formula (I) (R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>and R<SP>6</SP>are each defined in the specification), wherein the bisacylphosphine oxide has at least one of group expressed by PG-Y-R<SP>2</SP>-X- (X and/or Y does not exist, when R<SP>2</SP>does not exist).
