The device has a monitoring arrangement (1) with a transmitter stage (7) for transmitting data detected by a vibration sensor (4). An evaluating circuit (2) has another transmitter stage (11) for wirelessly transmitting control signals to the arrangement for transmitting the data, and is attached to a receiver stage (13) for receiving the data. The arrangement has a measured data memory (6) for storing the data detected in a time-referenced manner over an observation period, and the evaluating circuit is designed as a portable evaluating device with an input unit (10).
