PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive technology that achieves proper low-speed drive and reduces power consumption. SOLUTION: This drive device can drive a drive unit engaged to a drive shaft that reciprocates in conjunction with the expansion and contraction operation of a piezoelectric element by a friction force. In the drive device, an output cycle of a cycle Te is repeated in which a voltage of a maximum value (+Vp), a voltage of a minimum value (-Vp), and a voltage of an intermediate value between the maximum value and the minimum value (0 V), are applied to a piezoelectric element. In this case, the moving speed of the drive unit is changed by thinning the output cycle at a frequency Tf.
