PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a connector suitable for connection or the like of a wire harness for an automobile as an example, and capable of downsizing. SOLUTION: A lock release lever 26 releasing engagement between a lock part 18 of a male connector 12 and a projection 12 of a female connector 14 is capable of rocking with its connection part 26C as a center. When the engagement between the lock part 18 of the male connector 12 and the projection 12 of the a female connector 14 is released, an operator pushes a base end part 26B of the lock release lever 26 inward in a radius direction of the male connector 12. A region of play to rock the lock lever 26 is a region between a part toward the base end part 26B side from the connection part 26C of the lock release lever 26 and an upper wall part 42A of a tapered part 42 of the male connector 12. With this, the male connector 12 can make smaller a displacing stroke of the base end part 26B of the lock release lever 26 as compared with a lock arm of a conventional male connector having a distance from a rocking center position to a holding part longer than the rocking center position to an engagement claw.
