PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support method for a tunnel capable of coping with the condition of an earth at site as necessary and easily constructing a support means. SOLUTION: Ring supports 3 are assembled in the tail part 2 of a tunneling machine 1 beforehand. An expander metal 4 is installed across the ring supports 3 and 3 longitudinally adjacent to each other in a restricted position where sediment G falls.
