PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an oxygen-free copper wire rod, which employs a continuous casting and rolling method using a rotation shifting mold, and which can produce the wire rod excellent in surface quality and also an oxygen-free copper drawing wire having a high electric conductivity of 98% or more by cold-working the wire rod. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an oxygen-free copper wire rod is carried out as follows: molten copper obtained by melting electrolytic copper is continuously guided into a tundish through a trough; the molten copper in the tundish is poured into a rotation shifting mold, and cooled and solidified into a cast ingot; and the cast ingot is continuously drawn out of the mold and continuously rolled as it is. The molten copper is reacted with a solid reducing agent in the trough, and an inert gas is blown into the trough. The molten copper is reacted with a solid reducing agent in the tundish, and an inert gas is blown into the tundish. Further, a phosphorus compound is added to the molten copper so that the phosphorus content in the cast ingot becomes 1-10 ppm, and the temperature of the molten copper in the tundish is controlled to be 1,085-1,100°C.
