In order to provide a holding apparatus (9) for holding an interrupter (6) in a supporting frame (2) of a switch pole (1) with a holding section (20), which has a through-opening (22) and is designed to bear against a front face of the interrupter (6), a flange section (21), which is fixedly connected to the holding section (20) and at least partially surrounds the outer contour of the front face, and a supporting frame fixing (10) for fitting the holding apparatus to the supporting frame (2), with which holding apparatus a more compact design of a switch can be brought about given the same operating voltage or an increased operating voltage can be brought about given the same design, the invention proposes a field control element (20, 24) for limiting an electrical field, which element, during operation of the interrupter (6), can be conductively connected to a constituent part of the interrupter (6) which is at a high-voltage potential during operation of the interrupter (6).
