The invention relates to the ferrous metallurgy. A method for converter melting running involves top blowing of the bath with oxygen, addition of slagmaterials, superimposition of the electric potential between the blowoff lance and the bath, at that lance position in the range of layer of the melted slag is determined according to the scavenge periods of melting, reasoning from stress rate at the lance, it is disposed in such way, that voltage amounts: during the first period (0-20 % of the blowing duration) - 80-95 % of its starting level, during the second period (21-69 %) - 40-60 %, and during the third period (70 - 100 %) - 60-70 %. The invention improves technology of steel melting in the oxygen converters.
