PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ergonomically suitable cross-slide stage, and to provide a microscopic system where the illumination of a specimen to be investigated is optimized and the increase of observation height inconvenient in terms of human engineering is avoided by the cross-slide stage placed on a light transmissive base. SOLUTION: The cross-slide stage includes: a support element (11); a first sliding element (21) joined to the support element (11), and a second sliding element (31), wherein the first and the second sliding elements are movable in (two) directions arranged perpendicular to one another. The second sliding element (31) defines a placing plane on which a specimen (105) to be investigated comes to rest. An illumination module (3a) which defines an illuminated-field plane is disposed in the cross-slide stage, and when the cross-slide stage (101) is placed onto the illumination module (3a), the placing plane of the second sliding element (31) coincides with the illuminated-field plane of the illumination module (3a).
