Process for preparing angiotensin II receptor antagonists, in particular irbesartan, protected forms for the preparation thereof, or a pharmaceutical ly acceptable salt thereof, that comprises the reaction between a biphenylamino derivative and an oxazolone derivative. New intermediates are useful for the preparation of angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
