<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal identification device capable of improving the security level by preventing establishment of the identification based on fraudulence. <P>SOLUTION: The personal identification device 2 comprises an image input device 4 and an identification control part 5 electrically connected to the image input device 4. A camera 12 mounted in the image input device 4 captures the vascular image of a finger 6 inserted into a recess 11d, and the captured data are outputted to the identification control part 5. If the vein pattern included in the captured data matches the pattern registered in a memory, the identification control part 5 adjusts the temperature of the finger 6 by operating a temperature adjusting mechanism 14. After that, the vascular image of the finger 6 for which the temperature adjustment is finished is captured by the camera 12 again, and the captured data are compared with the data captured before the temperature adjustment.
