PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recycling method for polystyrene refuse which is free from excessive heating or the gasification or carbonization of polystyrene or contaminants therein, and to provide a device for practicing the method. SOLUTION: This device comprises: a transferring section; a screw for compression melting; and a discharging port. A throwing-in port in which polystyrene refuse such as expanded styrene is thrown in is provided at the upper section of the transferring section, and the transferring section has a disintegration blade which pulverizes thrown in objects, and is equipped with a screw for transferring which is provided under the disintegration blade, and transfers objects to be pulverized to a compression/fusion section. The screw for compression melting is provided in the compression/fusion section, and melts the polystyrene by generating a frictional heat which does not exceed the glass transition temperature of the polystyrene by rubbing introduced objects having been pulverized with one another.
