METHOD FOR SURFACE TOUGHENING OF METALLIC MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a method capable of achieving the surface toughening of a metallic member without necessity for any large-scale or complicated equipment.

SOLUTION: A carbon-based film with a thickness of at least 0.2μm is formed on the surface of a metallic member. A pushing force is repeatedly applied to the surface at a facial pressure kept at 2.5 GPa or higher.
