PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus that has a bending optical system and has a compact outer shape, when it is stored. SOLUTION: The optical apparatus 1 includes first optical element groups L1 and L2 having optical elements disposed on a first optical axis I1; second optical element groups L4 and L5 having optical elements, disposed on a second optical axis I2 extending in a direction different from the first optical axis I1 at least during photographing; a bending part L3 disposed between the first optical element groups L1 and L2 and the second optical element groups L4 and L5 and used to bend image light. In the optical apparatus 1, the first optical element groups L1 and L2 are supported so as to be rotatable, relative to the second optical element groups L4 and L5 between the stored position, where at least a part of the first optical element groups L1 and L2 overlaps the second optical element groups L4 and L5, in the direction of the second optical axis I2 and the photographing position, where the angle formed by the first optical axis I1 and the second optical axis I2 in relation to the stored position is large.
