PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a conventional map display apparatus, a large scale map of a desired position on a map is not easily and promptly displayed. SOLUTION: The map display apparatus comprises; a map information storing section 10 which holds map information which is two or more pieces of map information including the same area in different scales; a map information output section 11 for outputting map information of a part of area or a whole area of one of the map information in two or more pieces of map information; an instruction receiving section 12 for receiving a position indicate instruction which is the instruction for indicating the position on the map information which the map information output section 11 outputs; and an output change section 13 in which, when the instruction receiving section 12 receives the position indicate instruction, the map information including the position corresponding to the position indicate instruction, the size being larger in scale than the output map information, is obtained from the map information storing section 10, and which outputs it in the same size as the output map information.
