PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress degradation of image display quality by suppressing erroneous discharge. SOLUTION: In a driving method of a plasma display panel in which discharge cells are formed at intersections of scanning electrodes SC<SB>1</SB>to SC<SB>n</SB>and sustain electrodes SU<SB>1</SB>to SU<SB>n</SB>, one field is composed of a plurality of sub-fields having an initializing period, a writing period and a sustain period, and in the writing period, a voltage for generating sustain discharge between the scanning electrodes SC<SB>1</SB>to SC<SB>n</SB>and the sustain electrodes SU<SB>1</SB>to SU<SB>n</SB>is applied in a predetermined period T1.
