PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device, capable of shortening a warm-up time and the time for required from a standby state, after warm-up to a state where a fixing operation is possible. SOLUTION: The fixing device 3 is provided with a fixing roller 4; a pressure roller 5 to be pressed on the fixing roller 4; a main heater 6 for heating the fixing roller 4 from the outside; and a sub-heater 7 for heat-retaining the fixing roller 4 from the outside, to prevent the temperature fall of the fixing roller 4 heated by the main heater 6. The temperature of the fixing roller 4 is raised to a fixing temperature by the main heater 6, and the fixing roller 4 is heat-retained by the sub-heater 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
