PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an olefin oligomer, having high productivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the olefin oligomer comprises the following processes. (1) A process of producing a contact product (1) by bringing the olefin into contact with an organoaluminum compound; (2) A process of producing a contact product (2) by bringing a transition metal compound into contact with a compound expressed by the following formula (1); (3) A process of bringing the contact product (1), contact product (2) and an alumoxane compound into contact optionally with an olefin; R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>A-G-AR<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>---(1) [wherein, A's are the same or different and are each N, P, As or Sb; G is a divalent group; R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>are each independently a hydrocarbon group, a halogenated hydrocarbon group, an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group, a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon group, a selenium-containing hydrocarbon group or a tellurium-containing hydrocarbon group].
