PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin which forms a coating film for hair-dressing being free from sticky feeling even under a high humidity, capable of retaining a hair style for a long time and exhibiting excellent washability in shampooing, and to provide a hair cosmetic containing the same. SOLUTION: The resin for forming the coating film for hair-dressing is obtained by copolymerizing monomer components containing the following (A)-(D): (A) 0.5-20 wt.% CH<SB>2</SB>=C(R<SP>1</SP>)-COO-R<SP>2</SP>-Si(OR<SP>3</SP>)<SB>3</SB>, (B) 20-98.5 wt.% CH<SB>2</SB>=C(R<SP>1</SP>)-COOR<SP>4</SP>, (C) 0.5-60 wt.% CH<SB>2</SB>=C(R<SP>1</SP>)-COO-R<SP>5</SP>-OH and (D) 0.5-50 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated monomer having an amino group (in the formulae, R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 1-3C divalent saturated hydrocarbon group; R<SP>3</SP>is a 1-3C alkyl group or acetyl group; R<SP>4</SP>is a 1-18C alkyl group; and R<SP>5</SP>is a 2-8C alkylene group).
