PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a peripheral status display device and a peripheral status display method" efficiently indicating a position relationship of an obstacle and a vehicle for a driver. SOLUTION: A border line 201 indicating a vehicle side border of the obstacle detected by an obstacle sensor 106 is drawn on images a1-a4 in which a camera using a fish-eye lens photographs a vehicle periphery. Further, after completion of drawing of the border line 201, the images a1-a4 are converted by applying view point conversion treatment corresponding to a set view point and the converted images b1-b4 are synthesized with a figure 401 indicating the vehicle.
