PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer capable of providing stable image quality for a long period while preventing contamination of a photoreceptor, skipping during transfer and the occurrence of a minute black dot, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the developer. SOLUTION: The developer for the image forming apparatus for developing a latent image formed on an amorphous silicon photoreceptor by an electrophotographic system comprises externally adding inorganic particulates to a toner composed of at least a binder resin and a colorant. The developer is constituted by subjecting the inorganic particulate surfaces to conduction treatment and further subjecting the extreme surfaces thereof to fatty acid and fatty acid salt treatment.
