<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored curable composition which is satisfactory in hue, high in heat fastness and light fastness, excellent in storage stability and excellent in pattern forming property, and to provide a color filter and a method for simply and inexpensively manufacturing the color filter. <P>SOLUTION: The colored curable composition contains an azo dye expressed by formula (1). In formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>represents a heterocyclic group; R<SP>2</SP>represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; X<SP>1</SP>represents -N= or -C(R<SP>3</SP>)=; and R<SP>3</SP>represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent. The composition has preferable hue, high heat fastness and light fastness, excellent storage stability and excellent pattern forming property.
