PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object identification system capable of simultaneously and consecutively identifying a plurality of objects positioned in the direction of a user's sight. SOLUTION: An infrared tag 6 is attached to a prescribed object and flickers in accordance with an ID number uniquely assigned to the object, and a detection apparatus 1 is mounted on a user's head, and a CMOS image sensor 22 photographs a near infrared image including the object in the direction user's sight, and an image processor 23 generates a binary image resulting from binarizing the near infrared image photographed by the CMOS sensor 22 and detects the infrared tag 6 on the basis of temporal changes in the brightness of the binary image and detects the ID number from the flickering state of the detected infrared tag 6 and detects XY coordinates of the infrared tag 6 on the near infrared image and outputs data of the ID number, XY coordinates, etc. to a portable computer 10.
